Tattoo Aftercare in the Bakersfield Heat
Bakersfield summers are no joke. When it's 105° outside, keeping a fresh tattoo safe requires a different strategy than in cooler climates.
1. Sweat is the Enemy
In Kern County, you're going to sweat. Sweat trapped under a bandage or heavy ointment can cause "bubbling" or infection. We recommend light layers and strictly following our cleaning protocol.
2. Sun Exposure
A fresh tattoo is essentially an open wound. UV rays will damage the healing skin and fade the ink before it's even set. Stay in the shade or wear loose cotton clothing that breathes but blocks the light.
3. Hydration
Healthy healing starts from the inside. Drink plenty of water to keep your skin elastic and resilient during the scabbing phase.
